MONITOR DISPOSAL
"WHY RECYCLE ?"

This question has a two-part answer; ethical and legal.

Disposing of some electronic components into the normal waste stream may be a "gray area". Monitors are not a "gray area", they contain hazardous materials period! So the question is not really why recycle monitors but how.

Monitors contain; lead, phosphorous, copper, plastic, glass, and iron (along with other trace metals). These materials are either strictly restricted or banned in landfills as is the case in Minnesota and will be the case in New Jersey starting 1/1/99. The average monitor when subjected to TCLP tests yields lead content of 40 PPM. The maximum lead content permissible under Federal 40 USC Section 260 / 261 is 5 PPM.

Utilizing the services of CAX enables your company to eliminate the potential liability that might arise from improper disposal. We utilize a process that separates the component materials from the monitors and recycle them in a manner that does not have a detrimental impact on the environment.

As good corporate citizens we must take a proactive stance when it comes to the environment. After all our employees and customers must live in the environment that is directly affected by our corporate policy.

From a legal point of view there are many Federal and State laws and regulations pertaining to the proper disposal of an ever-widening array of materials. Often it is almost impossible to keep up with the ever-changing mandates, responsibilities and legalities.

Companies following procedures that were compliant at one time can unknowingly become entrapped in a legal quagmire than can even include "super-fund" cleanup penalties. Besides the tremendous penalties and other tangible expenses, there are the intangibles such as negative public relations with the local community and stockholders.

When a company properly recycles its' monitors it takes the necessary steps to indemnify itself from these types of problems. Some times the up front costs may seem higher than expected, however like any good investment the security and "peace of mind" provided is well worth the nominal cost.

WHY UTILIZE THE SERVICES OF CAX ?

Having been involved in the recycling of all types of products for over five years b>CAX has been able to refine and hone its capabilities. However we still attend numerous seminars and have in-house training to keep our staff abreast of changes in regulations and methods.

b>CAX excels in this difficult area of monitor recycling and disposal. We have a multi-step process that insures that your material will be properly handled. All inbound monitors are sanitized (all identifying labels, markings are removed), they are then wrapped and palletized for shipment to the processing facility.
